a Poetry Open Mic Experience
📍 Philadelphia @ City Winery
📅 Monday, October 26, 2026
What’s good, family?
Voices In Power is back at City Winery Philadelphia on Monday, October 26 for a special edition of our Poetry Open Mic Experience.
This month, we’re opening up more of the night to the open mic. More poets, more opportunities to touch the stage, more interactive moments, & the same music, food, drinks, community, & energy you know from Voices In Power.
And for the poets in the building, October comes with something extra: anyone interested will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to return to Voices In Power as our Featured Poet on December 27 at City Winery Philadelphia.
That selection is completely separate from the October open mic raffle. You do not have to be selected to perform on October 26 to be eligible. More details below.
The Experience
Doors at City Winery open at 6:00 PM, with the show running from 7:00 PM–10:00 PM.
Come early, grab food & drinks, connect with the community, sign up for the open mic, & settle in for a full night of poetry, music, games, live art, & interactive moments.
For October, we’re expanding the open mic and creating more space throughout the night for poets from the community.
The evening will include:
An expanded raffle-style poetry open mic
Music throughout the night
Live art
Games & interactive moments
Photo & video coverage
A live selection for our December 27 Featured Poet
Expect a room filled with love, culture, creativity, & powerful poetry.
For Poets
Please read carefully:
- Voices In Power uses a raffle-based open mic sign-up
- Sign-ups open when doors open & close when the show begins (6PM-6:59PM)
- Poets must be present to sign up
- Poets are selected randomly throughout the night
- Each poet is given 5 minutes for one poem
- Signing a raffle ticket does not guarantee you’ll perform
Please respect the process & time limits so everyone has the best experience possible.
October 26 also includes a separate opportunity for poets interested in becoming our Featured Poet on December 27.
This is not connected to the open mic raffle. Whether you perform October 26 or not, you can enter your name separately for the December feature opportunity.
All eligible poets who opt in will be placed onto a digital wheel, & the December Featured Poet will be selected live in front of the audience before the night ends.
If you enter, please make sure you are available to return to City Winery Philadelphia on Sunday, December 27, 2026.
