Voices In Power is bringing back our Poetry Open Mic Experience to Atlanta, & we’re doing it the only way we know how.. intentional, elevated, & rooted in community. If you were in the room the first time, you already know what’s up. We can’t wait to see you there.
The Experience
The doors open at 7:00 PM, with the show beginning at 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
Start your night with music, conversation, food, & drinks inside one of downtown Los Angeles’ most creative spaces. This experience is designed as a true night out, a place to arrive early, settle in, enjoy the atmosphere, & stay present all night.
The evening will feature:
- Featured Poet - Ashlee Haze
- Spotlight Poet - TBA
- 15-slot open mic (raffle-style sign-up)
- Music curated by a live DJ
- Live Art
- Hosted by Luis Marrero
- Photo & video coverage

Feature - Ashlee Haze
Ashlee Haze is a multi-hyphenate poet & spoken word artist from Atlanta by way of Chicago. Earning the nickname “Big 30" because of her consistency in getting a perfect score, she is one of the most accomplished poets in poetry slam. She has been a part of the Atlanta poetry scene for over 15 years. In addition to being a poet and creative, she is also a Telly Award-winning voice artist and copywriter. Ashlee has appeared on NPR's Tiny Desk series and has taken poetry to unexpected spaces, including a current partnership with the Atlanta Dream and New York Fashion Week. Her studio album “The Anatomy of a Breakup” is available now.
Food & Drinks
Food & drinks will be available for purchase throughout the night. The venue will offer a curated menu designed specifically for this experience, allowing guests to enjoy delicious food without missing a moment of the show. Whether you’re grabbing a bite before the performances begin or ordering during intermission, food is part of the experience, so be sure to feed your belly while the poetry feeds your soul.
For Poets
Please read carefully:
- Voices In Power uses a raffle-based open mic sign-up
- Sign-ups open when doors open & close when the show begins (7PM-8PM)
- Poets must be present to sign up
- Poets are selected randomly throughout the night
- Each poet is given 5 minutes for one poem
- Signing a raffle ticket does not guarantee you’ll perform
Please respect the process & time limits so everyone has the best experience possible.

About the Venue: Atlantucky Brewery
Atlantucky Brewing is a Black-owned brewery and creative community space in the heart of Downtown Atlanta, founded by members of Nappy Roots. Known for its laid-back, cultural energy, the space blends music, art, and community, making it a natural home for experiences that bring people together.
With an open layout and strong bar program, Atlantucky allows us to fully build out the Voices In Power experience — from live performances and DJs to painters, vendors, and interactive moments throughout the night.

Paid parking is available in nearby lots and garages throughout Downtown Atlanta, including options within a short walking distance of the venue. Pricing may vary depending on the day and nearby events, typically ranging from $10–$30.
For public transportation, Atlantucky Brewing is accessible via MARTA, with nearby stations including GWCC / State Farm Arena and Five Points, both within walking distance.
Ride share (Uber / Lyft) is also recommended for convenience, especially during peak hours.
