What’s good, family?
Voices In Power is bringing an intimate Poetry Open Mic Experience to Los Angeles for our first time, & we’re doing it the only way we know how.. intentional, elevated, & rooted in community. If you were in the room the first time, you already know what’s up. We can’t wait to see you there.
The Experience
The doors at ArtShare LA open at 7:00 PM, with the show beginning at 7:45 PM – 10:15 PM.
Start your night with music, conversation, food, & drinks inside one of downtown Los Angeles’ most creative spaces. This experience is designed as a true night out, a place to arrive early, settle in, enjoy the atmosphere, & stay present all night.
The evening will feature:
- Featured Poet - Nate Lovell
- Spotlight Poet - TBA
- 15-slot open mic (raffle-style sign-up)
- Music curated by a live DJ
- Live Art
- Hosted by Luis Marrero
- Photo & video coverage
Expect a room filled with love, culture, creativity, & powerful poetry.
This experience is intentionally designed to feel intimate.
We will have limited seating available for 50 guests, with additional standing room available once seating is filled.
Seated Tickets ($30): Guaranteed seat for the full experience
Standing Tickets ($25): Access to the full experience with standing room
We recommend arriving early, especially for seated ticket holders, as the room will fill with intention.
Feature - Nate Lovell
Born in Germany and raised in Norfolk, Virginia as an Army brat, Nate Nate is an award-winning slam poet, educator, and community builder based in Los Angeles, California.
Nate is a multiple-time slam champion, winner of the 2026 San Diego Invitational Slam, 3rd place finisher at the 2026 Chicharra Slam Festival, and currently ranked 2nd in the nation following their standout performance at the BlackBerry Peach National Slam. A former Brave New Voices coach, they also co-founded the West Hollywood Slam Team and helped create a Los Angeles Times-featured open mic centering queer and marginalized voices.
His favorite color is Orange.

Food will be available for purchase throughout the night. The venue will offer a curated menu designed specifically for this experience, allowing guests to enjoy delicious food without missing a moment of the show. Whether you’re grabbing a bite before the performances begin or ordering during intermission, food is part of the experience, so be sure to feed your belly while the poetry feeds your soul.
For Poets
Please read carefully:
- Voices In Power uses a raffle-based open mic sign-up
- Sign-ups open when doors open & close when the show begins (7PM-7:45PM)
- Poets must be present to sign up
- Poets are selected randomly throughout the night
- Each poet is given 5 minutes for one poem
- Signing a raffle ticket does not guarantee you’ll perform

Parking:
Street parking is available in the surrounding area, but can be limited at night. There are several paid parking lots & garages within walking distance, we recommend arriving early to secure a spot.
Rideshare:
Uber & Lyft are the easiest & most reliable options, especially if you plan to stay for the full experience. Drop-off & pick-up is simple right outside the venue.
Public Transportation:
ArtShare LA is accessible via Metro. The closest stops include Little Tokyo/Arts District Station & nearby bus routes throughout Downtown LA. A short walk or quick rideshare from the station will get you to the venue.
